Rainy Monday on the East Coast & Weather Tips

Looks like April showers are a month late on the east coast. 3DT knows of many travelers that are stuck in transit at the various airports. A quick way to gauge airport activity is to search on Twitter: EWR, LGA, JFK, BOS So, if you are stuck at the airport, good luck. If you haven't left yet, call and see about rescheduling. 3DT has rescheduled even after completing online check-in. The airline doesn't want you waiting in the terminal any more than you do. People often say on days like this, "Why travel for 3 days when you may spend one in the airport?"  Well, this is indeed a risk, but if you are taking international flights, you have a much better chance of getting out.  See my list of essentials, living close to an international airport has its benefits.  You see, airlines make their bread and butter on the business travel and cargo loads of international flights.  It would take a really nasty situation to outright cancel an international leg, even though they could go late by 3 or 4 hours.  Keep in mind that in the case of, lets say, Continental...  They need to get that aircraft to its destination to fly the passengers back or their schedule is screwed up for days - you can't leave 300 people and tons of cargo sitting in Narita for a day...  So rest assured, if you are flying international, you'll probably get out.  But if you are on the 7:30 pm to Chicago...  Good luck.  Those flights are a dime a dozen.  Oh, and if you've ever noticed that you're sitting on an long-haul flight that was sold out with dozens of empty seats, in similar weather...  Those people didn't make the connection.  Whoops. By the way, if you are one of those poor people: Check out this blog. Happy travels ----- 3DT
